Public Funding of Transport Research
The Department of Mobility and Transport Technologies within the bmvit is the main financer, organiser, co-ordinator and policy designer of transport technology research at national level in Austria. The department is also the central node and contact point for both national and international policy co-ordination in transport research.
At the Commission's stand, the current research and policy activities of DGs Information Society, Research, Mobility and Transport and of the European GNSS Agency will be displayed. Topics on show will include the latest developments in cooperative systems and eCall, the Green Cars Initiative, the ITS Action Plan and GNSS.
SMART is a Support Action co-funded by the FP7 of the European Commission. The aim of the project is to provide services to support SMEs participation in RTD research projects under the Transport Work-Programme.
The Institute's research focus is on the development and application of:
• Intermodal transport information and transport management systems;
• Vehicle guidance and driver assistance systems;
• Draughting tools for plant engineering;
• Automation systems for transport and utility systems;
• Integration of new energy carriers into vehicle technology.

Smart-Way is an EU-funded project that aims to do this by delivering satellite-based navigation and transport network information to your mobile phone.
SOFIA is an ARTEMIS project involving nineteen partners from different EU countries. This research project seeks to make physical world “information” available for smart services, connecting physical world with information world.
